ASUU STRIKE: Posterity will be kind to Gbajabiamila. | Ayekooto Akindele
Gbajabiamila did all within his capacity to ensure that the strike didn’t start at all but that didn’t succeed, however, he didn’t give up. He held meetings with ASUU Leadership when they issued warning/ultimatum before the industrial action. He also met all the stakeholders and relevant Ministers, Government Officials. He met the President. He canvassed for equilibrium position where all parties shift and meet for the sake of “Our Children”. While a few people think this is about taking glory, Gbaja thinks this is purely about the future of affected students. And truly, if it is about taking glory, what stopped anyone from intervening too? Gbajabiamila started his intervention long before the court action and he never buldged. He was meeting with ASUU, he was feeding back the President until when all issues are largely settled.
Gbajabiamila is doing well in his Surulere constituency 1 and doesn’t need any cheap point to score on ASUU, he only follow his passion for education of the youth.
No wonder, without undermining the efforts of all relevant agencies and their heads, ASUU specifically thanked President Muhammadu Buhari and Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila for their sincerity and patience.
As for me, time to resume my programme at University of Abuja has come. Thank you Muhammadu Buhari, Thank you Gbajabiamila. Thank you all.
