Alao- Akala, others charged with reconciling aggrieved members as APC inaugurates reconciliation committee
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State on Thursday inaugurated its peace and reconciliation committee and charged the members to ensure genuine reconciliation among aggrieved loyalists of the party.
The event was held at the party secretariat, Oke Ado and was presided over by the State Chairman of the party, Chief Akin Oke. It would be recalled that the immediate Past Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi had earlier set up the reconciliation committee in March but the body could not be inaugurated due to the prevailing situation in the country.
At the event, Chief Oke spoke on the framework that should guide the committee. He said the committee which is headed by former governor of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao- Akala should consult with all aggrieved members of the party which included all APC candidates at the governorship National, State House of Assembly and Local government, in order to achieve genuine reconciliation.
The committee was further charged with identifying contentious issues in the party and come up with suggestions and recommendations , propose mechanism for resolving internal crises and other relevant issues that would help in genuine reconciliation effort.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Otunba Alao-Akala said the committee would be committed and give their best in the assignment considering its importance. He also expressed appreciation to the party and Senator Ajimobi for finding them worthy for the important assignment of party reconciliation .
The committee thereafter went into a closed- door meeting after the inauguration.
The committee members include Otunba Alao- Akala, Prince Gbade Lana, Secretary, Alhaji Kamar Ajisafe, Pa Akin Ojebode representing Oyo Zone, Alhaji Laide Abass for Ibarapa zone, Prof Dibu Ojerinde representing Oke- Ogun 2, Pa Adeleke for Oke Ogun 1, Senator Teslim Folarin representing the Senate caucus and Hon Segun Odebunmi (Bonvic) representing the House of Representatives, Hon Niran Alarape for the State House of Assembly. Also included in the committee are three members from the party, they are party Secretary, Hon Mojeed Olaoya, State Youth Leader, Isiaka Areokuta , Women leader, Mrs Mabel William. The three senatorial zones are represented by Chief S.M Akindele for Oyo Central, Prince Adefisiye Adekanye for Oyo South and Alhaji Rasaq Arikewuyo for Oyo North.
