Don’t drag Oyo LG workers into partisan politics, Adelabu warns Makinde

Adebayo Adelabu, the Accord gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election in Oyo State has warned Governor Seyi Makinde to perish the thought of dragging the state local government workers into partisan politics.

The warning came on the heel of a surreptitious move by the headship of the
state’s Local Government Staff Commission to lobby the workers to work for the re-election of the governor.

The Permanent Secretary, who was reportedly summoned to ‘Inu Ile’, as Governor Makinde’s private residence is called was said to have been indicted for not being on top of his ‘constituency’.

The PS, a close ally of the governor was said to have been making frantic efforts to rally the administrative heads of the local government areas, culminating in the plans to meet with them on Monday.

Adelabu, through a statement by his campaign media office cautioned the local government workers not to be hoodwinked into supporting a government that has crippled activities at the third tier of governance in the last three years.

According to the statement, “local government administration has never had it so bad in the history of Oyo State.

“The height of it was the blanket condemnation of the political and administrative echelon of the government as corrupt and inept.

“It is ridiculous for the same governor who has crippled a system now seeking the support of the people he has so condrmned and rendered ineffective to return to office for a second time.”

The statement assured the council workers to endure the remaining months to the expiration of the tenure of Engr. Makinde for a new dawn in local government administration in Oyo State.
