Enough of instigated violence, BACO warns Makinde
The governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has been warned to desist from instigating violence in the State.
The warning was given on Wednesday by the Bayo Adelabu Campaign Organisation (BACO) in the aftermath of violence that rocked several parts of Ibadan.
Information at the disposal of BACO reveals that the violence was orchestrated by the Governor, using the Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila-led Parks Management System (PMS) in order to prevent the coming into town of the presidential candidate of a rival political party.
“From information at our disposal, the present crisis is being fuelled to prevent the presidential candidate of a rival political party to come to Oyo State to campaign. We also recall that a similar violence occurred on February 6, a day before the arrival of the presidential candidate, thus necessitating a postponement. We are experiencing a similar protest just a day before the arrival of the same presidential candidate. Clearly, this is an orchestrated protest. Governor Makinde should desist from this orgy of violence that is putting the lives of our people at risk”.
BACO said it had repeatedly warned that Gov Makinde established the PMS and empowered its leadership with a view to fomenting trouble in the State. “Our prediction is playing out in Oyo State today. What reason can we attribute to the protest in Ibadan today? The fuel situation seems to be gradually improving while naira scarcity, though still with us, our people in their usual resilience, have been managing the situation. Obviously the protest was orchestrated as our intelligence has revealed.”
The Adelabu campaign organisation noted that anywhere the governor went, violence always trailed him like his All Progressives Congress (APC) counterpart. The most recent of such violence was the one that occurred during the Governor’s campaign to Igangan which led to the death of some members of that community while their motorcycles, their means of livelihood were also destroyed.”
The Campaign organisation warned the people of the State to resist the intimidation from Governor Makinde’s hoodlums and vote the right candidate in the person of Oloye Bayo Adelabu who has conducted a peaceful campaign among all the other candidates. “At no time was any form of violence reported in the campaign of Oloye Adelabu. The only incident was when APC sponsored thugs attacked the Accord candidate’s convoy and the situation was quickly nipped in the bud as the incident was reported to law enforcement agents who arrested the culprits.” The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration if Governor Makinde and the APC are trouble and violence mongers, Oyo State does not need them. We should vote a better alternative in the person of Oloye Adelabu”
BACO said someone like Gov Makinde could sponsor violence in the State because he has no investment to protect. “ The same can not be said of someone who has a lot of investments like Oloye Adelabu, that is why we are telling our people in Oyo State to vote out the Makinde administration and vote Accord candidate in the person of Adelabu who would always ensure a peaceful State.”
