Florence Ajimobi mourns Pa Lakondoro
Wife of the former governor of Oyo State, Dr.(Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi has expressed deep sadness over the death of Pa OlayiwolaLakondoro, former chairman of the Shooting Stars Football Club. His death was announced on Thursday. He was said to be 111 years old.
According to Mrs Ajimobi, the late Pa Lakondorowas a great supporter and loyalist of her late husband, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
In a statement issued at the weekend, MrsAjimobi said though Pa Lakondoro died at a ripe old age, he would still be greatly missed.
The statement reads:
It’s with a great sense of loss that I mourn the unexpected passage of Pa OlayiwolaLakondoro, a patriotic son of Ibadan who was a loyalist and great supporter of my late husband.Though he lived to a ripe old age of 111, his transition is still painful.
The Abiola Ajimobi family has lost a friend, a patriot and partner in the journey towards building a greater Oyo State. We however take solace in the fact that he lived a life of service to the people, leaving indelible marks in the sands of time.
With his death, the entire Ibadanland and the people of Oyo State has lost an illustrious and distinguished son, whose quality, wise and sage counsel would be greatly missed.
In his lifetime, he showed deep concern for the development of Oyo State while his modest contribution as Chairman of Shooting Stars Football Club would never be forgotten.
My heartfelt condolences go to his immediate and extended families. May God comfort you all and may He heal the wound created by his transition.
Though no soothing words can help ease the pain and loss of his passing away, let us take consolation in his good deeds which are indelibly written in the heart of the people who have had the good fortune of coming in contact with him.
May his gentle and kind soul continue to find rest in the bosom of the Almighty”.
