NIGERIA ‘LL EXPERIENCE PEACE, ECONOMIC RECOVERY IN 2022, AYANDELE SAYS
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo state and businessman, Dr. Olusola Ayandele (Eruobodo), has expressed his optimism about Nigeria experiencing a great turnaround in the new year (2022) as against the current challenges of insecurity, economic downturn and social instability which are bedevelling the nation.
Nigeria is today joining the rest of the global community to usher in a new year on the Gregorian calendar with many citizens expressing fear of worse situation from what they term challenging economic atmosphere at which they blame the Buhari administration.
But Ayandele, in a new year message which was contained in a statement issued today and made available to journalists in Ibadan by his Special Assistant on Media, Comrade Sola Adeleke, cautioned the citizenry against holding the government solely responsible for the socioeconomic crisis as he attributed the development to a number of factors which he listed to include outbreak of Covid-19, global terrorism, insurgency and failure of previous governments to plan ahead.
“Despite all these, we can see light at the end of the tunnel in view of the fact that the government is not resting on its oars to remedy the situation. With heavy investment in human capital development, infrastructure, agriculture and various economic intervention programmes, Nigeria stands a good chance of a better standard of living and social security in no distant future.
The process of national rebirth has been commenced and we can only urge government to look inward and discover means of creating wealth and employment by attracting more foreign investment and industrialization.” Ayandele stated.
In the meantime, the Ibarapa-born politician and leading aspirant for Oyo South Senatorial District has urged stakeholders in Oyo APC to embrace and work together towards the emergence of a strong and united party that would be able to dislodge the PDP from power in 2023.
He added that the good people of the Pacesetter state are looking at the direction of the Progressives to have another feel of good governance and purposeful leadership which has eluded them since 2019.
“We have had enough taste of avoidable intra-party squabbles and this is the right time for all stakeholders to eschew pride and embrace one another as members of the same Progressive family. The year 2022 is a year of decision for political parties that are ready to participate in the next general election as party primaries will be concluded in the 3rd quarter of the new year. Therefore, leaders and elders of Oyo APC must find a way to resolve all issues relating to the party Congresses for us to move forward.” The statement concluded.
