Dr Felicia Opatunde admonishes sportsmanship, congratulates Adelabu on becoming minister for power
Chief Waheed Adebayo Adelabu ( OFR) :
Minister Of Power
I hereby express my gratitude to God, congratulate you , Oyo State indigenes and the entire citizens of Nigeria,on your well deserved appointment as The Minister of Power.
The political situation in Oyo State especially within the progressive party has been an unhealthy game of some sorts . To be specific, it has gradually slidden from the leading and most preferred party to a house of muddy water politics that left behind various casualties .
Majority of these casualties are women and youths ,to the utter disappointment of the good people of Oyo State ,who has age long confidence in the progressive family with past history of equity, transparency, all inclusive participation ,political stability and non-violence, among other virtues but drastically upturned to a home of unprecedented wave of violence .
In all, these dirty games has been both rough and tough ,because the paths through the journey has also been thorny and undemocratic.
However, I will love to draw your attention to the fact that this huge success bestowed on you, is for every Nigerian, who upholds fairness, equity and transparency ,as essentials of good governance.
A Ministerial appointment is a national appointment but which puts the responsibilities of being a true democrat on you.
Therefore, your immediate task is to recognize the need for genuine reconciliation across board, crushing the reigns of factionalism which has brought deep divisions among party faithfuls .
It is expected that you’ll embrace an all inclusive terrain and open door policy as a younger technocrat and politician aspiring for higher responsibilities.
This current assignment is no doubt a litmus test that will reveal your areas of strength and otherwise to Nigerians .
The leadership of the broom party should therefore come together and rally support for Chief Adebayo Adelabu in the Spirit of sportsmanship and avoid political factionalism which has been the impetus of our division.
We should not expect anyone outside the house to resolve our differences.
An in-house conflict can only be resolved through genuine reconciliation process void of biases and unhealthy schemings.
May the Lord grant you heavenly wisdom to have an impactful tenure.
