Florence Ajimobi mourns late Oyo rep member, Akinremi
Wife of the former Governor of Oyo State, Dr(Mrs) Florence Ajimobi has expressed deep shock over the death of Hon Musiliu Akinremi, member representing Ibadan North Federal constituency in the House of Representatives.
In a condolence message on Thursday, Mrs Ajimobi described Hon Akinremi’s death as a colossal loss that would take time to get over. “ I am still in shock and can’t believe I am writing this about him”, she said.
The condolence message reads:
“With a deep sense of loss, I mourn the passing away of a distinguish son, Prince of Ibadanlandand a great supporter of the Ajimobi family who transited to glory on Wednesday, July 9, 2024. His death came as a shock to me, considering the fact that he still has a lot to offer the people of Ibadan North and by extension, Oyo State and Nigeria, his death remains painful. We however take consolation in the fact that he served his people until his transition.
“As a serving member of the House of Representatives, with his death, the entire Ibadanland and the people of Oyo State have lost an illustrious and distinguished son. Our dear Country has also lost a lawmaker whose interest has always been Oyo State’s progress and development.
“His robust contribution to the development of the country as a lawmaker and his ability to traverse the public sphere irrespective of tribe or religion, his empowerment of the people he served diligently are worthy legacies that would live long after him and which his family should be proud.
“In his lifetime, he had shown deep concern for peace in the All Progressives Congress (APC)and the development of Oyo State and in this, we had always been in agreement and that contributed immensely to the cordial relationship he had with my family. He could be described asone of the pillars of Ibadan.
“He was a man of impeccable character who would be missed for his cordial and affable disposition. He was a philanthropist who had touched many lives, his legacies of good work will continue to live long after him.
“My heartfelt condolences go to his wife, children, members of his extended family, his colleagues at the National Assembly, people of Ibadan North and Oyo State for the loss of their lovable lawmaker. May God comfort you all and may He heal the wound created by his transition.
“Though no soothing words can help ease the pain and loss of his passing away, let us take consolation in his good deeds which are indelibly written in the heart of the people who have had the good fortune of coming in contact with him.
As we all mourn this responsive lawmaker, let us all take consolation in the words of former South African leader, Nelson Mandela: ‘When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace…’.
While alive, Hon Akinremi has served diligently and did his duties to his people. He can rest peacefully in eternity.
May his gentle and kind soul continue to find peaceful repose in Aljanah firdaus.
