SanwoOlu Listens : Sanwo-Olu demonstrates love to 50 less privileged
Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented cheques to 50 beneficiaries at the 3rd edition of the ‘Sanwo-Olu Listens’ initiative in a further demonstration of his kindness to vulnerable citizens.
The interactive platform was to provide long-term financial assistance to vulnerable citizens and one of several social intervention programmes being implemented by the current administration to bring relief to residents with adverse socio-economic conditions.
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the Secretary to Lagos Government, Folashade Jaji, reaffirmed his commitment to continue touch lives and put smiles on the faces of ordinary people.
“As a government, we feel obliged to render this financial assistance to a wide range of residents to aid their inclusion into the socio-economic fabric of the society, despite their vulnerability.
“We will continue to show love, empathy and identification with the plight of the less privileged.
“We also encourage more well-meaning individuals and corporate organizations to toe this path as caring for the less privileged within the society should be a collective responsibility.
“Today we are gathered here to support another set of beneficiaries who are mostly operatives of the informal sector such as artisans, commercial vehicle drivers, mechanics, tailors, barbers and many others, who live on daily earnings and are experiencing severe economic challenges.
“Through this support, we are raising the capacity of beneficiaries to earn decent living and also address some other challenges they might be experiencing,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu commended the Special Adviser and her team in the Office of Civic Engagement for their diligence for execution of the programme in line with its goals and objectives.
The Special Adviser, Office of Civic Engagement, Princess Aderemi Adebowale, said the third edition of the programme was a demonstration at the continuous aspiration of the governor to support struggling individuals in the Station to cushion the negative economic on the citizens.
According to Adebowale, since the inception of the life-changing initiative in August 2020, the Governor has offered assistance to over 10,000 vulnerable citizens.
Beneficiaries eulogised and showered encomiums on Governor Sanwo-Olu for organising the programme.
Among the beneficiaries include physically challenged persons, sick, and parents of triplets.
