Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the re-opening of Ajao Estate Isolation Centre at Indo-Eye Care Foundation following the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the Sanyukt Bhartiva Association (SABHA), the centre was closed down on December 1, 2020, when new cases of the pandemic were at a very low level.
The centre, situated at No. 9, Murtala Mohammed Airport Road, near ERM Diagnostic, Ajao Estate, fully equipped with modern medical equipment, water, electricity, lift, entertainment equipment and standby power supply, was reopened by the Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Emmanual Akinola Abayomi.
Indo-Eye Care Foundation, in collaboration with SABHA and other supporters, initiated treatment of COVID-19 at the centre, which doubles as Treatment Centre type II.
The Indo-Eye Care Foundation, a fully charitable organisation with the prime objective of providing eye care to the underprivileged members of Nigerian society, decided to build the hospital through the principal trustees of the foundation, Mr. Narambhai Patel and Dr. Deep Mirani, who also collaborated with late Dr. Ram Purohit of Smt. Lilawatiben Mohanlal Shah (Billimoriawala) Eye Hospital at Navsari, Gujarat, India.
The hospital, now also operating an Isolation Centre, can also be said to be a brainchild of Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate, District 9110, Lagos Nigeria.
The Indo-Eye Care Foundation, in addition, has successfully carried out seven Cornea transplant surgeries in Nigeria, in collaboration with Rotary Club of Lagos Palmgrove Estate, putting smiles on the faces of a lot of Nigerians in its free eye surgery operations carried out at different parts of the country.
