OPEN LETTER TO OYO AOPSHON ON THE SUSPENSION OF SOME OF HER MEMBERS
Any time I read or heard about the ugly situations and the unfortunate scenes that play out in primary school axis of education, my heart bleeds and I always weep for my profession.
This is the time for the AOPSHON Oyo state to speak for herself.
The headteachers, the assistants and the teachers accused of flouting government order on zero collection of fees were just victims of circumstance, the real culprits are in SUBEB/LGEA’s(the home of corruption) Why wouldn’t this kind of a thing happened? Because SUBEB hold your school grant for almost a term.
They believed you can run a school without money and you kept silence until some concerned teachers took up the issue. Why wouldn’t HM’s flout the government order of free education? Because there was no money to run the school.
This is the time for AOPSHON to speak up against the impunity of SUBEB, Silence is the beginning of doom. SUBEB also should be investigated and all the officials and the career officers found culpable of spending almost all the grant accrued to primary school before the remaining meagre was paid must be dealt with within the ambit of the law.
If you will agree with me, all the HM’s mentioned here did what they think best can help the school running when some princes of Persia held their school grant.
You may never heard of any school principal, vice-principal or secondary school teacher’s name attached to illegal fees collection, simply because;they collected the school grant on time without any bottle neck, they also have favourable amount per head of every student(#1000).
How much was allotted to every pupil in primary school? #300, how much was paid to school account per head? Not known. Why was it not known? Because going by the data and the information made available, the highest amount ever received as grant for primary school during first term was #30000,some received as low as #4000.
The meagre school grant for primary school can’t be sufficient in the running of the school, some of the headteachers have incurred expenses that outweighed the grant received. Why wouldn’t such give room to sabotage and illegal fees collection? ”
Ti aba fa gburu, gburu a fa Igbo”. That is the approach I want to suggest to AOPSHON, so that OYOSUBEB as home of corruption can be exposed and sanitized. “Injury to one, is injury to all”
