JUST IN: Oyo State Medical Doctors, Dentists Union Begin Indefinite Strike Over Lack of Doctors, Implementation of CONMESS Salary, Arbitrary Tax, Others

The Oyo State medical doctors under the ages of Association of Medical and Dental Officers (AMDO) has today commenced indefinite industrial action against the state government for failing to meet up with their demands after the expiration of her 21-day ultimatum issued since June of 2020, but which was in suspension after meeting with the government.

We can as well be recall that, a similar industrial action was suspended again in December 2020, and which another 6-week ultimatum was given to the government again to look into their demand for the betterment of the state, and which government assured them of proper implementation of their demands; AMDO.

Below are some of the demands of the Association of Medical and Dental Officers, Oyo State;

1. That, the 2019 CONMESS salary scale should be implement with arrears from August 2020;

2. That, each state hospital or unit or its equivalent is expected to have a minimum of eight medical/dental officers;

3. That, one doctor per General Hospital/Dental Center is not acceptable again by the union;

4. Implementation of due promotions with payment of their arrears;

5. Payment of allowances to medical practitioners on GL-15, 16 and 17;

6. Medical Doctors in administrative position should be paid with administrative allowances; and many other.

It was on the failure of government to meet up with the implementation of those demands that make the association resolved to embarked on industrial action indefinitely.
